Weekly Update 3 - Goal Setting and a rating issue
Hi folks!
Welcome to update 3! How's your week been?
I've gotta be honest; I'm very tired and I haven't gotten enough work done this week. Devlin's route still isn't done because I needed to take more breaks than I wanted to, but I want to finish with its writing this week. I think setting concrete goals will help me finish this game (more or less) on time, and get it out to you all. :)
The other thing I'd like to bring up is that the game ran into a difficult situation that I don't want to disclose fully yet, but it's been disheartening at best. First of all, I should say this really isn't aimed at you (my audience!) as much as it's something I'd just like to get off my chest. You have been nothing short of amazing and I'm proud to have you here! But this is something I haven't talked about before and it's bothered me.
Essentially, one of the things that happened is that the game got a bunch of negative ratings all within an hour or two on the same day over a week ago. I don't know if these ratings were made by one person, and I have reached out to Itch's staff in the hopes that I can understand and resolve it. The events that have transpired reinforced my view that it's OK not to like the game. Folks are even welcome to share what they didn't like so I can improve it. However, trying to make it fail or do poorly/hurt my feelings or sense of well being through actions like this is hurtful and scary for me, especially since I've spent 3 years on it and it's such a passion project for me. The game's rating dropped from 5 to 3 stars immediately and the number of 1-3 stars this/these user(s) left will prevent this rating from being fixed until Itch helps me. If you enjoyed the game want to leave a positive rating while I wait for this to be fixed, that would honestly be so appreciated and it would cheer me up. :)
Anyway, that aside, I'm going to keep working on it. Thank you again for those of you that have shared your thoughts and support; it helps me a lot! This situation has been upsetting but I've seen equal amounts of positivity so far and for that, I am grateful.
