Weekly Update 5 - End of year report

Hi everyone!

18 days since the last devlog! I'm sorry it's taken so long; I've been incredibly busy and tired most of the time. Have some screenies for your patience! <3

Love Hues has now been in production for 3 years, and I originally promised to myself that I'd stop working on the game by the end of this year if it still wasn't done because I didn't want it to be this forever-ongoing project. However, at the time, I was also worried about my future as I wasn't working a job other than working on the game and I'd just graduated, so I needed a hard deadline to make sure I'd start looking for a job.

As it happens, I did actually manage to find a really engaging and exciting FT job about two months ago, and I've been trying to balance game dev and the job since then. It's been difficult due to fatigue after my busy work days/weeks, but I found that I'm able to crunch out lots of game progress during the weekends because I'm no longer working on the same thing all the time.

In light of this, I've decided to continue production of the game with the new hard deadline of Summer 2019. I do apologize for announcing this so late (and if you've followed the game for a while, for bumping the deadline back again...) but I fully intend to finish this. At this point I really do feel like we're close. I've edited all the characters' routes minus Ava, and I'm working on that one intensely over the holidays, and after this it'll just be CG (re)creation and playtesting time. After that I can look at releasing it on Steam and/or Itch, and hopefully pushing it out to a new audience. Side note, we're almost at 800 downloads now!! People are still downloading Love Hues! Thank you! <3

In the meantime, I've been leaving lore clues around the different places where I post about the game if some of you are interested in finding out more about the backstory. I'll try to keep doing this over my break!

Lastly, I'd like to thank you all for being so warm and welcoming with this game. I was hoping for downloads but I certainly didn't expect to get close to a 1000, and I hope you (will) enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating its world. Here's to a productive new year where the game actually gets finished and you finally get to experience it in all its fancy completed glory!

I'll leave this devlog with a few non-spoilery screenshots from  Nova's route so you didn't read this textwall for nothing! :) (p.s: one of them, when clicked, links to a lore clue on Twitter! The other clue is findable on Lemmasoft).

Cheers and happy holidays,

Oneirocritica Games
